Multilingual Website for a Business in Antalya: Which Languages and How to Set It Up

A multilingual website lets an Antalya business speak to tourists, expats and locals in their own language: English, Russian, Turkish and, depending on your customers, German or Ukrainian. Done well, each language version brings its own search traffic and enquiries. Done badly, it becomes a site where half the pages are untranslated and search engines show the wrong language to the wrong person. This guide explains how to choose languages and how to set them up.

Which languages do you need?

Start with the languages your paying customers use, not every language you can think of. Look at:

  • Where your current customers come from (booking data, invoices, WhatsApp conversations)
  • Which languages people use when they contact you
  • Which markets you want to grow in the next year

For many Antalya businesses the answer is English and Russian next to Turkish. A real estate agency or clinic may add German; a business serving locals may only need Turkish and English. Each language you add is content you have to write, translate and keep up to date.

One address per language

Each language version should have its own address, for example /en/ and /ru/ on the same domain. Language switching by cookie or by script, where the address stays the same, makes it hard for search engines to index each version. Google explains that it does not use the language in the address to decide who sees a page; instead, each page should declare its translations (hreflang), and the translations should link back to each other.

Translate for the reader, not word for word

Machine translation is a useful draft, but sales pages should be checked by a fluent speaker. Russian-speaking customers search with different words than English speakers: a page about property management may need a different headline, examples and even a different order of information. Keep names, prices and contact details identical across versions.

Google and Yandex

English-speaking customers mostly search on Google. Many Russian-speaking customers also use Yandex, so for a Russian version it is worth verifying the site in Yandex Webmaster as well as Google Search Console, and checking how the Russian pages appear there.

Contact channels per audience

Turkish customers expect WhatsApp; many Russian speakers prefer Telegram; some international clients still prefer email. Show the channels that match each language version, and make sure someone on your team can reply in that language or knows how to hand the conversation over.

Keeping it maintained

The most common failure is not the launch, it is month six: a new service is added in Turkish only, or prices change on one version. Decide who updates each language and make sure the admin panel lets your team do it without a developer.

Checklist

  • Languages chosen from real customer data
  • Separate address for each language
  • Translations declared and linked to each other (hreflang)
  • Titles and descriptions written for each language
  • Site verified in Google Search Console and, for Russian, Yandex Webmaster
  • Contact channels matching each audience
  • A named person responsible for updating each language

Frequently asked questions

Is an automatic translation plugin enough?

For informational pages it can be a start. For pages that sell your service, have the text checked by a fluent speaker; mistakes cost trust.

Should I use separate domains for each language?

Usually not. Language folders on one domain are easier to manage and share the domain’s authority.

How do I know if it is working?

Search Console and Yandex Webmaster show which queries and countries each language version receives. Review them monthly.
