Local SEO in Antalya: What Determines Your Google Ranking?
Appearing at the top for searches like “software company Antalya”, “dentist Konyaaltı” or “plumber near me” is valuable for any business that works by location. But there is no way to buy or guarantee that visibility — Google says so openly: there is no way to pay for or request a better local ranking. This article explains what determines the ranking and which part of it is under your control.
How does Google decide local rankings?
Google refers to three main factors in local results:
- Relevance: How well your Business Profile matches what the person is searching for. Filling in the profile completely helps Google match your business with the right searches.
- Distance: How far each business is from the person searching. The searcher’s location is part of this calculation.
- Prominence: How well known the business is. Links to your business across the web and the volume of reviews fall under this heading; Google states that more reviews and positive ratings can help your local ranking.
You can only work on two of these three. The third — distance — is a matter of geography, and it is the subject of the next section.
What does the distance factor mean?
A business in Muratpaşa is further away from someone searching in Konyaaltı, and that affects its ranking for that search. There is no way to overcome this with software.
The practical conclusion here matters: copying the same text and only changing the district name to create “Konyaaltı web design”, “Lara web design” and “Kepez web design” pages does not work. These pages are copies of each other and offer the visitor nothing new. If you genuinely have something specific to that area — a branch there, work you have done in that area, a service specific to the area — then a separate page makes sense.
Google Business Profile: the foundation of the relevance side
A complete profile helps Google match you with the right searches. The fields that are most often skipped:
- Category selection: Your primary category should be the one that most accurately describes what you do. Secondary categories are for additional services.
- Service list and descriptions: Enter the services you offer one by one.
- Opening hours: Including holiday and special-day hours. Wrong hours mean a customer who finds a closed door and a negative review.
- Real photos: The premises, the team, the work you do. Stock images are not distinctive.
- Service area: If you go to the customer, define which areas you serve.
- Website link: Pointing to the relevant service page rather than the home page gives better results.
- Messages and Q&A: Answering incoming questions keeps the profile alive.
Update the profile whenever the information changes. If you have moved, changed your number or expanded your range of services, this information should be updated everywhere at the same time.
Reviews
Google says that more reviews and positive ratings can help your local ranking. It also states that responding to reviews shows you value feedback, and that positive reviews and helpful responses can contribute to your business standing out in local results.
The approach that works in practice is this: make asking for a review a natural part of the job. When the work is finished and the customer is happy, send the direct review link. Write non-defensive, solution-oriented replies to negative reviews — that reply is read not only by that customer but by the next ones too.
Writing or buying fake reviews backfires: it is against Google’s policies and can lead to action being taken against your profile.
The website’s role in all this
The Business Profile does not work on its own. On the prominence side, links to your business across the web count; on the relevance side, content that explains what you do. What your site needs to do:
- A separate page for every service that genuinely describes that service.
- The address, phone number and opening hours on the contact page must match the profile exactly.
- A mobile-friendly structure that loads fast on a phone.
- Content that answers the questions customers ask before buying.

Directories and consistent information
Your business name, address and phone number must be written the same way everywhere they appear. A different address or an old phone number left in various directories misleads both customers and search engines. Be present in directories that fit your sector and are actually used; registering in dozens of irrelevant directories produces no benefit.
How long until you see results?
There is no answer to this, and any answer you are given is not reliable. Google does not share the details of its algorithm, so that it stays fair for everyone, and gives no guarantee of a particular ranking. The outcome varies with the competition in your area, how well known your business is, your accumulated reviews and the continuity of the work.
If you receive an offer telling you “you will be number one in three months”, know that this is a promise that cannot be kept.
What to avoid
- Writing or buying fake reviews.
- Opening a profile with an address where you are not actually located.
- Creating more than one profile for the same business.
- Adding keywords to the business name (“Antalya Best Cheap Plumber Ahmet Plumbing” instead of “Ahmet Plumbing”).
- Producing copy pages with only the district name changed.
- Paying for services that guarantee rankings.
How do you measure it?
Rank tracking on its own is misleading; results vary with the searcher’s location. Look at these instead:
- Business Profile statistics: Number of searches, direction requests, phone calls, website clicks.
- Search Console: Impressions and clicks from queries other than your brand name. Evaluate brand queries like “Kayrus” or “kayrustech” separately.
- Real business: The number of quote requests and phone calls coming in. This is the final measure.
Frequently asked questions
I have no physical office; I go to the customer. Can I open a profile?
Yes. In that case a profile that defines a service area is created; the address can be hidden. Do not add areas you do not actually serve.
Does advertising raise my organic ranking?
No. Google states clearly that local ranking cannot be bought. Ads appear in a separate area and stop when the ads stop.
How many reviews are enough?
There is no number; the measure is where you stand compared with your competitors in your area. A regular flow of genuine reviews is healthier than reviews collected all at once.
Can I have a negative review removed?
Only reviews that violate Google’s policies can be reported; not every review you dislike can be removed. The right approach is to write a calm reply that offers a solution.
Should I work with an SEO agency?
You can, but do not accept any service that guarantees rankings, does not explain its method or suggests buying reviews. Ask for a written work plan that explains what will be done.
